Purpose of the Job

The Retrofit Installation Management Group aims to provide the methodologies, expertise and resources to enable TSR (Steam Turbines retrofit Activity part of Turbomachine Group TMG) to become a world leader in installation management of Steam Turbines retrofits and industrial new equipment applications. The aim is to develop the competitive advantage in this particular field, in order that TSR is recognised by our customers as the world leaders in rapid installation.
The Installation Engineering position is responsible for providing engineering support and expertise in support of the tendering for or execution of the site installation part of a retrofit project.

Responsibilities

Opportunity / Tender development phase:
Obtain, integrate and evaluate approved sub-supplier quotations in support of tenders (technical, costing, scheduling and risk management)
Support of site measuring activities
Support senior Installation Management staff in the preparation of tenders
Project Execution Pre-outage Planning Phase:
Technical and organisational interface to TSR Engineering and PM colleagues, client and suppliers
Support senior Installation Management staff in the pre-planning of retrofit installations within the areas of documentation preparation, sub-contractor management as well as interface to Engineering and Project Management
Project Execution phase:
Reporting to ROC or LTFA for project specific contracts
Provide Installation outage support, managing administration, reporting, documentation and various interfacing tasks.
Installation Management Resources:
Maintenance and development of generic and project specific installation and site work instructions, check sheets and training documentation
Installation Management Development Activities:
Training and instruction of colleagues and client O&M staff.

Knowledge / Experience

The ideal candidate will have some years experience with steam turbine design, heavy rotating power equipment maintenance, planning and/or project management.
Prior experience of working as a mechanical fitter or working in a power plant construction environment is an advantage.


Behavioural and Technical Skills / Competencies

Technical skills / competencies:
Technical report writing in English language.
Fundamentals of project management.
Proficiency with handling and maintenance of large industrial mechanical equipment is an advantage.

Behavioural skills / competencies:
Ability to influence and change opinions of relevant stakeholders by formulation of persuasive and convincing concepts suitable for communication with the targeted audience (customers, managers, craft labour and supervisors, suppliers, etc.).
Applying a pragmatic approach to liquidating work and setting goals. Displaying a good sense of judgement when setting priorities and when managing time, resources and deliverables.
Ability to identify and prioritise between value-adding business activities.
Ability to motivate individuals and working groups to achieve the targets set.
Maintain focus and interface relationships in challenging situations.

Job Location / Mobility Requirements

The position will be affiliated to a TSR unit, preferably either Rugby (UK), Richmond (USA) or Elblag (Poland). The position requires extensive international travel and short and long term worldwide assignments up to an estimated 50% of the time on average across all similar positions.
